April 30-May 2, 2027 - Camp for FREE Weekend - See Thousands of Daffodils!

Come spend an hour, a day, or the whole weekend helping us get Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue ready for another summer.

Over the years, volunteers have helped us build campsites, tent decks, trails, gathering spaces, and much of the infrastructure that makes camping at the rescue possible. This spring, the focus is less on building new things and more on taking care of what we have: spring cleanup, maintenance, repairs, waterproofing, painting, clearing winter debris, getting campsites ready, and tackling the inevitable list of projects that comes with maintaining 107 acres in Vermont.

There will also be plenty of farm work. Depending on what needs doing that weekend, you may find yourself hauling branches, cleaning up around the grounds, shoveling poop, helping with animal areas, or lending a hand with one of the many small projects that keep the rescue running.

No experience is necessary. Come willing to help and we will find something you can do.

And this is not just a work weekend.

Camp with us for FREE, spend time with the rescued animals, meet some wonderful people, and gather around the campfire at night. Pack a tent and sleeping bag and make a weekend of it, or just come for a few hours.

Boots and work gloves are strongly recommended. Spring in Vermont can be muddy, wet, and, around a farm animal rescue, occasionally poopy.

And then there are the daffodils.

About 8,000 daffodils, planted over the years by volunteers just like you, should be blooming across the property. It is one of the most beautiful times of year to be here.

Your time and energy help us care for this land, support the rescued animals who call it home, and continue the vision and legacy of Brian J. Stephens, who began this rescue effort.

September 17-19, 2027 - Camp for FREE Weekend

Come spend an hour, a day, or the whole weekend helping us get Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue ready for winter.

Fall is one of our favorite times on the farm. The nights are getting crisp, the leaves are beginning to turn, the campfires feel especially good, and there is nothing quite like a mug of hot apple cider after a day working outside.

Our major camping infrastructure is already in place, thanks in large part to volunteers who have helped us over the years. This weekend is about taking care of what we have and getting the rescue ready for another Vermont winter.

We’ll be winterizing campsites, making repairs, waterproofing, maintaining fencing, clearing brush and fallen limbs, painting where needed, cleaning up animal areas, pitchforking manure, and tackling the long list of maintenance projects that come with caring for 107 acres, rescued animals, and a campground.

We may also be planting more daffodil bulbs, adding to the thousands that greet us every spring.

And yes, there may be hooves to trim and poop to shovel. This is a farm animal rescue, after all.

No experience is necessary. Come willing to help and we’ll find something you can do.

Stay for the weekend and camp for FREE. Spend time with the rescued animals. Sit around the campfire with old and new friends. Watch the sun set from the Big Sky Tent Deck as we approach the autumn equinox.

And we’ll make dinner for our volunteers each evening.

Bring your tent and sleeping bag if you’re staying over. Work gloves and sturdy boots are strongly recommended. Fall weather in Vermont can range from warm sunshine to chilly, wet, and muddy, sometimes all in the same day.
